Lead your family to build a life on mission

Do you look at today's screens-focused and social media-obsessed youth culture and want something more for your kids? Us too. That's one reason we are inviting young families to join us, with their kids, for a missions trip this summer. Not only to give our kids the opportunity to serve others, encounter God, and begin to understand the luxury of their own privilege -- but to plant seeds of a life that is built on something deeper, richer, more real, and more fulfilling than than what we see on the screens. Our heart is also for parents, like you, to know you’re not alone. One of the hallmarks of this trip will be connecting as families to wrestle with God’s command to us to “train up our children in the way they should go.”  What does Kingdom-minded and godly-character-focused “training” look like in our homes? What could family devotions look like? What does it mean for us to raise our families to “live a life on mission” for Jesus, right where we are at?

Guatemala is one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in Central America. Tourists travel from all over the world to climb its volcanoes, drink its coffee, and zip line through the rainforest.

However, the true beauty of Guatemala is its people.

Gripped by poverty, the people of Guatemala hunger for the Kingdom of God. The majority of Guatemalans practice a form of Catholicism, and many mix in ancient tribal religions and traditions into their faith practice. Adventures’ Base in Guatemala has served the local communities since 2012. Our long term missionaries at the base love hosting Short Term Mission teams, inviting them into opportunities to serve in a variety of ways.

Ministry

  • Care Point Ministry: Our base has long-standing relationships with local church leaders that allow us to offer community development and support to families-in-need in a variety of ways. Our team will get to build relationships with and serve local families through sports ministry, womens ministry, and children’s activities.
  • Fuel Efficient Stoves: Due to the reality of their economic situation, many Guatemalan families cook over an open fire in an enclosed or semi-enclosed area of their home. Smoke fills not only the house but also their lungs, which leads to health problems for family members –especially the mothers and children. By installing fuel efficient stoves with chimneys, families can cook in their homes with out smoke inhalation. This makes cooking and less costly, as it uses less wood. Our team will get to do this! And it’s so simple, even your littlest kids will be able to contribute to the project.

  • Church Mobilization: Our base partners with local churches to train up Guatemalan missionaries! We may have the opportunity to encourage and pray over Guatemalans that will eventually move to another country to share the love of Christ, make disciples and plant churches.
