Retro Church - Group Trip - Puerto Rico -26E0718PR
From the National Tropical Rain Forest of El Yunque to the ancient streets of San Juan – Puerto Rico is known to be a wonderful tourist destination and to have a relaxed Caribbean culture.
However, life on this island is not what you see in the travel magazines.Nearly half of the population in this beautiful island lives below the poverty line and struggles to find jobs. Your team will partner with a local church that's dedicated to bringing the love of Jesus to their community.
Here are just a few of the things you may get the opportunity to do in Puerto Rico:
-
Work Projects: Your team may have the opportunity to help local churches or families with cleaning, landscaping, painting, or other light manual labor. There is a wide range of economic status in PR- you may be working with any of them.
-
Community Outreach: Your team may have the opportunity to visit local homes of some members of the local church and some that are not members of the local church. The pastor will guide your team to which families may be in the most need. Your team will be able to pray for the believers and give them hope in Jesus and share the gospel with those that do not know Jesus.
-
Children's Ministry: Teams may be able to facilitate some children’s ministry, spending time with them and sharing Jesus with them. These opportunities will depend on your location, the churchs’ needs, and the time of year in which you go.
-
Sports Ministry: Like children’s ministry, these opportunities will depend on your location, the churchs’ needs, and the time of year in which you go. Basketball and baseball are always the best for engagement.
-
Solar Lamp or Uzima Water Filter Distribution: Our organization partners with several companies that allow us to purchase solar lamps and water filters at discounted rates. If your team is interested in purchasing some and distributing them during your trip, this would be a great opportunity to not only meet a basic need but also share the Gospel.
-
Police and Fire Station or Government Office Visits: Teams could have the chance to visit local police and fire stations to pray for the men and women serving the areas. This is a great way to engage with them, encourage them, share your faith with them, and provide them with a special treat as well!
-
Evangelism: Teams may be able to visit local businesses and share the Gospel with the locals. Places like Walmart tend to have people who are open for prayer and conversation.
-
Homeless Shelter Outreach: Depending on the location of your trip, you may have the opportunity to visit a local homeless shelter and serve the staff. There could be a special project your team could help with, but you also may be able to pray and engage with the residents.
- Prayer Walking: Serve alongside a local church and reach out to their community with them. Discover the power of prayer and learn more about God's heart as you pray.
