World Race: Gap Year is a 9-month Christian gap year program created for recent high school graduates to serve others, dive into Christian community, and grow in your identity and faith. Gap Year gives you an opportunity to work alongside experienced leaders who are sharing the hope of Jesus and meeting the tangible needs of their communities every day. Along the way, you’ll discover more of God, yourself, and your calling. Gap Year is not a year off. It’s the launching pad for seeking first the Kingdom of God for the rest of your life.

Japan: Known for its thriving technology and automobile industries, Japan is among the most educated countries on earth. As a leader in the global community, it also has the 3rd strongest economy in the world. Over 70% of its 6,852 islands are uninhabitable, so most Japanese live in densely populated cities. The nation has the 10th largest population in the world. Almost 93% of its citizens practice Buddhism, Shintoism, or a combination of both, and roughly 1% are Christian. Will you share God’s love in the Land of the Rising Sun?
 

South Korea : South Korea is a little different from the rest of this route, and it's a stop you'll never forget. Old and new collide here in a way that's almost dizzying: high-speed trains gliding past centuries-old palaces, neon skylines over quiet tea houses, some of the best food and most creative culture on the planet. If you love where the world is right now, Korea is one of the most electric places you can stand. It's also one of the most pressure-soaked cultures on earth. Young Koreans carry an enormous weight to perform, to measure up, to earn their worth through grades and image and output. Underneath all that achievement is a real ache, and if you know how to listen, you'll hear it.

Cambodia : If you get the chance to watch the sun come up over Angkor Wat, you'll understand why people cross the world for it. Cambodia is full of wonders like that: ancient temples, dusty village roads you travel by tuk-tuk, houses on stilts over flooded rice paddies, food you'll want to recreate the second you get home. Then you sit with the older generation and remember what this country survived. A genocide tore through Cambodia and took close to a generation of people, including most of its teachers, leaders, and pastors. The Church here is young because so much was lost. And yet the Cambodian people are some of the most hopeful and generous you will ever meet. That mix of deep wound and stubborn hope is the soil you'll be stepping into.

Thailand : They call it the Land of Smiles, and they earned the name. Thai people are some of the warmest, most welcoming you will ever meet. The food alone is worth the plane ticket, and if you get the chance to visit an elephant sanctuary or wander Chiang Mai's night markets, you'll be glad you did. But the smile hides something heavy. Thailand is one of the most unreached countries in the world, around 94% Buddhist, and the same tourist economy that draws crowds also feeds a dark trade in exploitation. There's beauty here and there's brokenness, and they live right next to each other.

Malaysia: Located in Southeast Asia, Malaysia has one of the most competitive economies in all of Asia. Known for the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petronas Towers, it is a rising power in our global economy. With a large number of immigrants from India, Thailand, China, and Burma, Malaysia is culturally rich, with heavy influences of Hinduism and Buddhism. However, this culturally diverse and rapidly developing nation is mostly Muslim. Will you share the love of Jesus in Malaysia?
 

Indonesia: Indonesia is almost too much country to take in. Over 17,000 islands, the largest island nation on earth, with forests so dense and remote they rival the Amazon. More than 700 languages. Volcanoes, white-sand beaches, and if you get the chance, actual Komodo dragons. The national motto means "many, yet one," and you'll feel both halves of that the moment you land. It's also the largest Muslim nation on the planet, and only a small slice of the country follows Jesus. The Gospel has reached some islands and barely touched others. For a Racer who wants to take Good News where it hasn't gone, there are few places on earth like it. The people are the highlight. Indonesian hospitality is staggering, and folks with almost nothing will give you everything they have.
